Barry Bless – Live at the Branch

Join us for another Live at The Branch mini-concert on Wednesday, May 21st from 6-8pm with artist Barry Bless.

Barry Bless aka “The Professor” writes music and plays the accordion, piano and various instruments made from gourds. In addition to performing solo, he currently plays with the Blue Orpheus Orchestra and the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra. Other ongoing projects include Breakfast Cabaret, The Professor and the Madwoman, Breath and Bellows and The Happy Lucky Combo. He is an alumnus of the legendary Ululating Mummies.

He has performed at the Virginia Opera, Live @the Branch House, Virginia Folklife Festival, Virginia Arts and Letters Live, James River Film Festival, Smithsonian Institute, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Classical Revolution RVA and the World’s Largest Gourd Show. He has busked locally and in Cuba and performed in India. His favorite place to play is in the kitchen.

The Professor is calling this concert “Transcending Time and Space through Rhythm and Place” It will include music and stories inspired by local places, people and events with a global perspective.
