Join Coming Together Virginia on Thursday, July 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Branch as we examine the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Too many school disciplinary policies and procedures push children from the schoolyard to the criminal justice system. This is especially true for students of color, students with disabilities, and LGBTQ students who find themselves suspended and expelled at greater rates than their peers for the same disciplinary problems. During this event, we will learn more about the history of this practice, review the factors that contribute to the continued flow of the pipeline, the issues and problems children face once in the criminal justice system, and the reforms that are being proposed to stop the pipeline.
Dinner will be included in the event so please come a little early and enjoy your meal and meet someone new. Our program will start promptly at 6:30 pm.
Pre-registration is required so please register today! A suggested donation is $20 per person however, all are welcomed regardless of your ability to make a donation.
